Tasting Notes
James Suckling 93-94
A fresh and juicy red with blackberry, black cherry, crushed stone and walnut aromas and flavors. Medium to full body. Round and velvety tannins. Generous.
Jane Anson 93
The team at Bouscaut has done a great job of paring things back, and bringing a sense of sculpted freshness to both the red and white wines over recent vintages. A real challenge in 2022, particularly in the white wines, and this is certainly intense and creamy, but it is also full of joyful white flower and citrus zest, giving contrast to the ripe stone fruits.
Robert Parker 90-92
The 2022 Bouscaut rouge, a blend of 55% Merlot, 30% Cabernet Sauvignon and 15% Malbec, offers up aromas of cassis, licorice, graphite and dark berries. It is concentrated and rich with a medium to full-bodied palate and a firm, typically Cabernet grip in the finish. This a great effort for this 55-hectare estate that’s entering its second year of conversion to organic farming.
The Wine Independent 90-92
Deep garnet-purple in color, the 2022 Bouscaut Rouge rocks up with ready-to-go notes of black cherry compote, warm cassis, and raspberry preserves, leading to wafts of fallen leaves and crushed rocks. The medium to full-bodied palate has a solid backbone of firm, grainy tannins and impressive tension, finishing with good length and purity.
