James Suckling 97
Real depth for a chardonnay, with lots of limey, smoky green fruit, chalky, flinty citrus, stones and oyster shells. Pure, full-bodied and mouthwatering, with laser beams of acidity cutting through the taut, textured palate. Bright, long and pure with a delicious, austere edge. Drink or hold.

The latest in a run of superb releases of this world-class Chardonnay from Francisco Baettig, the 2020 was picked early in a warmer year. Volumes were down, but the quality is undiminished, showing subtle citrus and beeswax flavours, a hint of nutmeg and vanilla and the thrilling, stony intensity that s the hallmark of the terroir.
