The 2017 Chambolle-Musigny Les Amoureuses 1er Cru has a very detailed bouquet with killer focus; exquisite floral aromas reveal traces of blueberry and cassis and wonderful mineralité. The palate is medium-bodied with lucid blue and red fruit, fine saturated tannin and veins of blood orange and tangerine that fan out on the curry-leaf-tinged finish. There is a lot going on in this Les Amoureuses, one of Mugnier’s most captivating 2017s.
Anticipated maturity: 2023-2045
Ultra-elegant and pure aromas are comprised by notes of spiced plum, red raspberry and a pretty range of floral elements. The rich and satin-textured mouth coating middle weight flavors possess an excellent sense of energy along with an abundance of minerality that adds a sense of lift to the dusty, focused and gorgeously persistent finale. This is a classically styled Amoureuses of grace and lace though make no mistake, it’s also one that should age effortlessly for years.

A stunning bouquet of raspberries, rose petals, blood orange and sweet soil tones, deftly framed by a subtle touch of new oak, introduces Mugnier’s 2017 Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru Les Amoureuses, a medium to full-bodied, supple and expansive wine framed by filigree tannins and racy acids, exemplifying the ideal of intensity without weight. Long and precise, this isn’t as structured as the 2016 or 2015 renditions, and it will be open for business sooner. But the 2017 Amoureuses looses very little by comparison with those two brilliant wines.
