Tasting Notes
Vinous 89
The 2016 Dassault feels a little overdone on the nose, delivering a block of lush black cherry and strawberry fruit but not enough terroir expression. The palate is medium-bodied with lush, furry tannin, relatively low acidity and touches of mint toward the finish, which feels rather opaque. Maybe this will improve with bottle age, but it does not move me at the moment.
Anticipated maturity: 2022-2035
Robert Parker 93
Medium to deep garnet-purple in color, the 2016 Dassault gives up notions of crushed red and black currants, black berries and warm plums plus suggestions of cedar chest, yeast extract and garrigue. Medium-bodied, the palate is vibrant and refreshing with a soft texture and loads of long-lingering black and red fruits on the finish.
Anticipated maturity: 2021-2038
