Tasting Notes
Vinous 89/100
The 2015 La Clarté de Haut-Brion is lighter in color than its peers. Here, the SO2 seems to occlude fruit intensity and the nose lacks the focus and definition one would expect. The palate is better, offering lime and citrus fruit; a little peachiness develops with aeration. The candied, sweet finish lacks complexity. Not bad, but the aromatics need to be addressed. Tasted blind at the Southwold 2015 Bordeaux tasting.
Anticipated maturity: 2021-2029
Robert Parker 90
“This is effectively a combined second wine of Chateau Haut-Brion Blanc and La Mission Haut-Brion Blanc, which prior to 2009 was known as Les Plantiers du Haut-Brion. A blend of 27% Sauvignon Blanc and 73% Semillon and redolent of ripe peaches, pink grapefruit and baking bread with touches of orange blossoms and crushed stones, the intense, satiny textured 2015 La Clarté de Haut-Brion Blanc offers up a lively palate laced with mineral accents and finishing with impressive persistence.”
Anticipated maturity: 2019-2027
