Tasting Notes
Vinous 89
(bottled in November of 2016): Moderately saturated medium red. Inviting aromas of strawberry, mocha and iron; another register entirely after the dark, floral 2016s here. Fat, ripe and plush but dry, conveying complex soil tones to its fleshy flavors of red raspberry and mocha. Finishes slightly warm, with very good subtle length and no rough edges. Nothing reached 14% alcohol in 2015, Liger-Belair assured me.

The 2015 Vosne-Romanée Clos du Château had been racked two weeks prior to my visit, ready for bottling the following week. It has a delightful bouquet with red cherry, crushed strawberry and fine mineralité for a village cru. The palate is medium-bodied with crisp acidity, a touch of tangy marmalade infusing the red berry fruit, with fine structure and acidity towards the energetic finish. Give this 2-3 years in bottle and it should drink well for a decade.
Anticipated maturity: 2019-2030
