Tasting Notes
Robert Parker 92
The 2012 Châteauneuf du Pape Omnia is made from 80% Grenache and 10% each of Syrah and Mourvèdre, and was vinified with 100% whole cluster and aged two years in barrel (on lees) with no racking before being bottled unfined and unfiltered. It has a creaminess and suppleness (no doubt due to the extended lees contact) to go with terrific notes of black raspberries, crushed flowers, incense and Asian spice. Medium to full-bodied, fresh, tight and lively, yet with good richness, it needs 2-4 years of cellaring and will keep through 2027.
Anticipated maturity: 2015-2027
Vinous 93
Brilliant ruby-red. Fresh cherry and red berry aromas gain spiciness with air, picking up a smoky quality and a hint of potpourri. Juicy and sharply focused, with densely packed raspberry and bitter cherry flavors nicely lifted by zesty acidity. Finishes with excellent persistence, a hint of fine-grained tannins and repeating cherry and smoke notes.
Anticipated maturity: 2017-2024
