Tasting Notes
Vinous 98/100
The 2010 Montrachet Grand Cru is a spectacular wine that fulfills all its potential. The bouquet rivets you to the spot with yellow flowers, hints of honeysuckle and petrichor, with aeration becoming a little petrol-like. The palate is brimming over with nervous energy. There is incredible depth, real "thrust" to this Montrachet that just lacquers the senses, yet it is only just beginning to demonstrate what it can do. Wow. Bravo Mon. Lafon. Tasted at Noble Rot’s Xmas dinner.

There is still enough wood to merit mentioning framing the aromas of acacia, citrus and spicy white-fleshed orchard fruit. There is fine concentration to the big, muscular and broad-shouldered flavors that coat the palate with dry extract still imparts a borderline chewy texture on the mineral-driven, powerful and hugely long finish. While this has become civilized and could certainly be enjoyed now, it is still clearly very young and still developing so if you wish to appreciate it at its peak, it will be necessary to wait a few more years. A monument in the making.
