Tasting Notes
Vinous 87-89
Good medium ruby. High-toned aromas of boysenberry and violet. Solid, meaty and a bit chunky, with very good sweetness of fruit. More pliant than many recent vintages of this Margaux. Finishes with firm tannins and notes of black fruits and licorice.

Tasted single blind at Southwold. This has a clean, pure nose with blackberry, cedar and charcoal scents. Quite good definition but very tight. The palate has firm tannic entry, lots of dry extract, lots of tobacco elements coming through on the foursquare finish. It has a certain austere charm, but not exactly pleasurable. Very dry finish. I was expecting more. Drink 2012-2020. Tasted January 2009.
Anticipated maturity: 2012-2020
