Tasting Notes
Vinous 93
Deep ruby-red. Vibrant aromas of blackberry, cassis and cedar. Thick and concentrated, with compelling sweetness buffered by strong extract. Fat and mouthfilling. Notes of nutty oak and vanilla. Finishes with even, tongue-dusting tannins and outstanding grip and persistence. A strong vintage for this wine.
Robert Parker 87
A garnet core with deep tawny rim. The nose is pure and lifted with maschino cherry, plum, kirsch and smoke developing. Very fine delineation and gaining lift with time. The palate is full-bodied, more leathery than previous Tignanello’s at this vertical and imbued with more secondary flavours: tobacco, saddle-leather and a touch of cloves. Not quite as cohesive as I would like whilst there is a hint of dryness on the finish. I cannot see this Tignanello improving. Drink now-2015. Tasted November 2006.
