Jean-Pierre Guyon is a slightly under the radar producer in Vosne-Romanee, however this is not a domaine to pass over. Delivering a range of excellent Grand Cru, Premier Cru and village level wines alike, Jean-Pierre Guyon’s international presence is slowly growing following the domaine’s continued high praise domestically. The domaine’s 9 hectares of vines, which are mostly over 50 years old, have all been farmed organically since 2006. The domaine became ECOCERT certified in 2012. In addition to this, the lunar cycles are used to decide the treatments and interventions in the vineyards. The optimum harvest dates are decided individually from vineyard to vineyard, with regular tastings of the grapes to judge their ripeness. In the cellar, a traditional approach is used – whole clusters are pressed before fermentation with natural yeast and there is no addition of sulphur during the vinification. The resulting wines show fineness, purity of fruit and an outstanding terroir-delineation – Vosne-Romanee wines of this quality at such reasonable price points are truly rare.
