In 2006, Nicole Lamarche took over her family’s winemaking business that had been tended to by her father, Francois. As one of the rising stars in Vosne-Romanee, it wasn’t long before Nicole’s talent and meticulous work in the vineyards was reflected in the wines she produced and since 2019 the domaine has carried her name. As a fourth generation winemaker, Nicole has reinvented the domaine’s style, opting for a refined and seamless expression that is both fragrant and elegant. This can be seen in the Premier and Grand Cru wines, which include Clos-de-Vougeot, Grands-Échezeaux and Échezeaux. However, it is the domaine’s monopole Grand Cru, La Grande Rue that is the standout wine Nicole produces. Sandwiched between two Domaine de la Romanee-Conti parcels – La Tache and La Romanee-Conti – the accolades and praises this wine receives area immediately understandable. Nicole converted the entire domaine to organic and biodynamic practices (although the domaine is not seeking certification on this front), and has opted for a lower use of new oak in the cellars. The domaine produces a majority of Pinot Noir however there is also Chardonnay and Aligote under vine that the domaine produces at Bourgogne and village levels.
