The turning point in the history of this Chambole-Musigny based Domaine happened in 2009 when Gilbert Felettig, the second generation winemaker, decided to abandon the old style, rather oaky and extractive, in favour of more pure, vibrant and elegant wines. Since then the quality of the Felettig wines has only been improving and so have the critic’s scores. 13 hectares, a total of 100 plots across Cote de Nuits, are now organically farmed, the grapes are picked earlier for more freshness, and all the vineyard work is done manually. The winemaking’ approach is mostly non-interventionist, with a slow fermentation followed by maturation with a careful use of new oak. The wine is bottled unfined and unfiltered and shows wonderful terroir-delineation and plenty of character.
