The domaine was founded in 1858 and is based in the heart of the Cote de Nuits in Vosne-Romanee. Previously known as Domaine Robert Arnoux, the winery changed its name in 2009 to reflect the fact that Robert Arnoux’s son-in-law, Pascal Lachaux, had been running the domaine since 1995. Today, Pascal’s son Charles is in charge and represents the family’s sixth generation of winemakers. Domaine Arnoux-Lachaux uses both biodynamic and organic farming techniques, natural fermentation and does not fine or filter their wines. There is a restrained use of oak in the cellar which results in the production of elegant wines with great purity and depth of flavour. With 14.5 hectares of vineyards dedicated to Pinot Noir, the domaine covers a range of terroirs and produces wines from regional, village, Premier Cru and Grand Cru sites. Their Romanee Saint Vivant is truly one of the great Grand Cru wines, the only problem being that so little of it is produced!
