This benchmark Gevrey-Chambertin estate was founded in 1983 and quickly earned its fame for graceful and delicate Pinot Noirs which display pure red fruit aromas and stunning delineation. Run by Denis Bachelet who inherited a small plot from his grandparents, the estate boasts some very old vines, those in Charmes-Chambertin being more than a century old. Grapes are entirely destemmed, the juice undergoes a long cold maceration followed by fermentation with the indigenous yeasts. New oak is used in moderate amounts only to soften the tannins and never to overpower the wine.
