Based in Chablis, the Moreau family history dates back to 1814 when Jean Joseph Moreau established the J. Moreau et Fils wine merchant trading company. Although the company was sold in the 1985, the family retained their vineyards. In 2002 the domaine’s renaissance took place and Domaine Christian Moreau Pere et Fils was established. Fabien Moreau now works alongside his father, Christian, with the aim of making “a wine of great pureness which is typical of Chablis”.

The domaine has 11.6 hectares of vineyards, which includes a range of Grand Crus such as Blanchot, Le Clos, Valmur and Vaudésir, as well as Premier Cru parcels and Petit Chablis. Between 2004 and 2008 Fabien stopped the use of pesticides and weed killers in the vineyards, beginning the transition towards organic farming. In 2013 the domaine produced their first, official vintage with the Organic Agriculture label. All of their Chardonnay is hand harvested before moving onto fermentation with indigenous yeasts and aging in stainless steel tanks.
