Benjamin Leroux developed an interest in wine at a young age, and after having studied at the lycee viticole Leroux worked in Bordeaux, Oregon and New Zealand before returning to Burgundy where he became general manager of the acclaimed Domaine du Comte Armand in Pommard. Having earnt his reputation in Burgundy, Leroux established his own micro-negociant business in the Cote d’Or in 2007. His range includes around 50 different cuvees across all levels of the Burgundy hierarchy, from Bourgogne to Grand Cru, all of which he approaches with the same light touch to allow the fruit to express itself. Leroux carefully selects not only the growers he works with but equally the quality – rather than the fame – of an appellation’s terroir. Over the years he has converted many of these sites to using organic or biodynamic practices and aims to keep yields low in order to enhance the quality of the grapes. Leroux’s wines have received praise for purity of fruit and a seamless texture and will drink well both young and old.
