Calon Segur is a Third Growth wine based in the northernmost appellation of Saint Estephe. Calon Segur is a very popular chateau around Valentine’s Day due to its label design of a heart. The estate was once owned by Nicolas Alexandre de Segur who also owned Chateau Latour and Lafite.  Legend has it the Marquis was so fond of Calon-Ségur that he said he made his wine at Lafite and Latour but his heart was at Calon, this led to the heart-shaped emblem that adorns the bottle to this day. This is being released at £440 for a full case.

The 2012 reveals an opaque ruby/purple color along with sweet tannins, low acidity, medium to full body, and abundant cedary, foresty notes intermixed with black cherries, black currants, caramel and spice box. This medium to full-bodied St.-Estephe should drink well in 4-5 years (atypical for a Calon Segur), and last for two decades. 90-92 Parker Points
