IG Wines had the pleasure of organising an amazing dinner at the Langham Hotel in partnership with one of the most sought after Bordeaux second growth superstars – Cos d’Estournel. A Tuesday evening cannot get much better than that! A selection of their fantastic range of wines was showcased by Estelle Sementery, European Development Manager for Cos d’Estournel. These superb wines were accompanied by fine dining by Michael Roux Jr. in the Langham’s private dining room, the Barouche.

Upon arrival, our guests were greeted with canapes and Michel Reybier Brut Premier Cru Champagne; a hidden gem of the Cos d’Estournel portfolio!

The tasting commenced with nothing other than Cos d’Estournel Blanc 2015, one of the best whites coming from Bordeaux; 70% Sauvignon Blanc and 30% Semillon – what a way to start. Only 800 cases are made of this beauty every vintage! This was paired perfectly with a refreshing confit salmon in a miso crème fraiche which then led our guests to taste Cos’s Pagodes 2011 drinking perfectly at its peak!

We then opened a beast of a wine – Cos d’Estournel 2005 – decanted two hours prior to tasting, the freshness and intensity of this seminal vintage was just exceptional. This was paired with glazed tender beef and mousseline potatoes. The 1989 vintage was then tasted and entranced our guests in a bouquet of flowers, leather and game; all superbly balanced with a great acidity and good freshness – Bravo! This gorgeous wine was paired with a selection of French and English cheeses which was then followed by the tasting of another gem of the Cos portfolio; Hetszolo Estate Tokaji Aszu 5 Puttonyos. This was accompanied by a confit apple with salted caramel and Madagascan vanilla ice cream.
